Joyful Koko
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.14 дней назад
JOYFUL KOKO Penny and Koko had a close bond, similar to that of a mother and child. Much of Project Koko's research was conducted naturally through their joyful playtime interactions - which informed and enabled 5 decades of interspecies communication and love. (KokoArc Video 683, Clips 5, 6 and 7)
The Koko Signs App Goes to Africa
Просмотров 48421 день назад
The Gorilla Foundation's new Koko Signs app is being used in Cameroon, Africa, in a pilot program to see what effect it might have on a community that lives in proximity to western lowland gorillas. The initial results are very promising, but we have much more work to do, in both app development and distribution, now that we see the potential.

In this footage we see Koko ages 1 to 29 years old as she learns and uses the sign “Brush/Comb”. From the earliest stages of development as a baby, to mastering the sign independently, Koko's journey with the sign for 'Brush' exemplifies the power of motivation in learning. Grooming proved to be a compelling incentive for Koko's linguistic development.

It has been quite an adventure, and Koko's Legacy has only just begun to unfold for the benefit of great apes everyw...
Koko is Ready to Eat!
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.3 месяца назад
Penny and Koko share a moment in Koko's room as it becomes snack time. Communicating through sign language, Koko articulates her specific preferences for the fresh items in her snack bowl. This act of expressing preferences empowers Koko, granting her autonomy over her choices. Recognizing and facilitating such autonomy for captive gorillas is crucial in enhancing their well-being, and it stand...

Young Koko Plays With Blocks

Koko loved playing with blocks and other toys, and it was a bonus that the blocks in this video were red (her favorite color)! Through this free-play, she showed her creative side and problem-solving skills. As she got older, she began using these toys to communicate complex ideas. Her word blocks were just one of the many modes of communication Koko used in addition to sign language.
Koko Knows She's a "Gorilla"

Koko liked to look at books and magazines (which she sometimes held upside down). She would point out photos or illustrations she liked and would often comment about what she saw. In these examples, she then comments on herself! Koko is showing her understanding of different animals and also demonstrating that she is aware of her own identity as a gorilla. Koko’s self-awareness raises important...

Happy 42nd Birthday Ndume! We wish you outside time, sunshine and lots of birthday foliage. Ndume had access to the outdoors nearly every day at The Gorilla Foundation. He could choose whether he wanted to be inside or outside and would frequently switch between the two. We have a big persimmon tree next to the large outdoor enclosure, and persimmons ripen in the fall, right around Ndume’s birt...
World Gorilla Day 2023 - Koko Used Natural Gestures!
Просмотров 1,5 тыс.7 месяцев назад
In this KokoArc video we see footage from 1972 and 1973 when Koko was 1 and 2 years old. After Koko so easily learned the initial signs that Penny taught her (Eat, Drink and More), it was clear that Koko had an innate ability to use and understand gestures. In fact, Penny realized that Koko was also using her own set of gestures from the outset. “Come”, “Up” and “Give me” were among the natural...

The signs Penny (and her advisor Dr. Karl Pribram) decided to start with were Eat, Drink and More. These signs were decidedly important to infants and would be frequently repeated. Koko picked up the signs quickly, likely due the predisposition of gorillas (and all apes) fo...

why am i crying
Stop lying and clickbaiting! Koko is not signing anything in these video the humans are
Um no koko did not sign "good" these humans did🙄
Hmmm...funny how when she told her to do thr sign for fruit she simply pointed at her eye which is what she did when she said "eye". If peopeould pay attention and actually look closely and listen to what this fraud says it would become more and more obvious just how untruthful Penny Patterson is!😏

and all living beings, animals, birds, fish, insects. all are souls. they all deserve our respect and protection. they are the web of life. i love koko and sadly miss her.
It always makes me sad to remember how Robins life ended, he was a beautiful soul and deserved better.
“ you gorilla “
Koko's reaction after she call her trainer the Gorilla qas like she said " Wayyyy, are you having that! Hahaha"
Beau documentaire ❤
It should be in the trees not being made mental
I miss her so much. She was definitely America's sweet heart. She was so loved.
I cried in exactly 60 seconds
WAIT, KOKO IS STILL ALIVE? I THOUGHT SHES DEAD
she is dead
Imagine you're a gorilla and you enjoy Robin William movies and then one day you get to interact with him. How amazing is that???
Gorillas are on the other side of the missing link.. We share so much with them!
adorable.
Wow...two beautiful souls connected forever ... wonderful 😊
Such a beautiful friendship
Needed my Kiki fix!
This music is so odd. 😒
Beautiful & sweet Koko, she was a gift. 💔🌻
She was so beautiful.❤
Koko was truly amazing!! I loved her and always will.❤😢
Sad that Koko never became a mother. She would have been the best mother a baby gorilla could ever have.
No sanctuary or zoo would let them have an orphan baby.... they were researchers, and Koko was a research subject.... zoos and sanctuaries were probably afraid to give them a gorilla... for obvious reasons... However, they did find a male for her to mate with, but she refused him. The researchers actually asked Koko why, and she signed "brother". I guess the male ended up feeling more like a brother to her...

"instincts" is a dated and also quite specist concept. We really shouldn't talk about other animals that way anymore, ever 💀
Humans have instincts too. It's weird to think saying something has instincts is somehow a problem.
In this case, they use the term in a species-positive way.
I mean an animal does have instincts that is a female gorrilla theyre gentle of ourselves she loves the cat howeverif it wear lion that kitty has some other problems
explain why?
Κόκο μου όμορφη δεν θα σέ ξεχάσω ποτέ ❤❤
Koko was often coming up with funny names for cats) This gorilla was much more humane than humans themselves
I think she named her first cat "all-ball". 🐈 It's good they let her have the kitties, though....
Beautiful Koko..I miss you and your beautiful gentle self..RIP💕🧸🤗xx
Fire
To funny her with his glasses
For the strength a gorilla has she is exceptionally gentle with her cats. RIP Koko, you will never be forgotten my sweet. Lots of love from the world. ❤️🇬🇧🌍
My heart is broken.
They are both darlings.
I feel very sad too. She never had her life as a normal gorilla. If she wanted a baby for her whole life, why did she have to miss out on that. She's looking so sad and tired. You people are wonderful, but what happened?
Wonderful
So a beloved Gorilla🥰🥰🥰
Their bond is beautiful
I could cry, so beautiful. Koko & Penny were a blessing & opened hearts. 💖💔
Poor koko the only form of babies they let her have
So inspiring! Beautiful! ❤️🎉😊
